The American Embassy in Belgrade continues its tradition of support and partnership with the English Language Teachers’ Association of Serbia (ELTA). This year’s conference, titled “Awaken Your Curiosity,” will be held at the Singidunum University in Belgrade, May 19 and 20. The American Embassy supports the Conference not only financially, but also by bringing English language teaching experts from the United States to share their knowledge and experience with colleagues in Serbia and the region.
Ambassador Scott opened this year’s ELTA Conference and welcomed the participants. In his remarks, he repeated the American Embassy’s continuing support to improving English language teaching in Serbia, as the language of science and international business, and so an important part of Serbia’s efforts towards economic development.
The American Embassy underwrote the participation of Marjorie Rosenberg, Vice President of the International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language (IATEFL), and two English Language Fellows: Jean Linehan, Teaching Assistant at the Faculty of Philology in Belgrade, and Colin Vandergraaf, teaching at the University in Szentendre.
