Embassy Supports Improving English Language Teaching in Serbia

Continuing the tradition of support and partnership with the English Language Teachers’ Association of Serbia, Ambassador Scott opened this year’s “Awaken Your Curiosity” ELTA Conference, held at the Singidunum University in Belgrade. In his remarks, he repeated U.S. Embassy’s continuing support to improving English language teaching in Serbia, as the language of science and international business, and so an important part of Serbia’s efforts towards economic development.

U.S. Embassy supported this year’s ELTA conference not only financially, but also by bringing English language teaching experts from the United States to share their knowledge and experience with colleagues in Serbia and the region. Specifically, the participation of Marjorie Rosenberg, Vice President of the International Association of Teachers of English as a Foreign Language (IATEFL), and two English Language Fellows: Jean Linehan, Teaching Assistant at the Faculty of Philology in Belgrade, and Colin Vandergraaf, teaching at the University in Szentendre.
