Apply for or renew a U.S. Passport

Adult Passport Renewals (Age 16 and Older)

NEW SERVICE: Adults (16 and older) can now renew their passports without coming to the U.S. Embassy Belgrade by mailing their passport renewal applications and paying the passport fee online. For more information please visit our Important Passport Information page.

 

 

Other Passport Services

If you are not eligible for online passport renewal, visit Forms to find the form you need and begin the process of completing and submitting your passport application. You can also find the form you need via the wizard.

Processing times vary depending on demand. If you are traveling within the next two weeks, please see the Emergency Passports section.

Passport services are not available on weekends or on Serbian or U.S. holidays.

 

PAYMENT METHODS & DETAILS

Payments are made at the Consular section of the U.S. Embassy at the time of your appointment in U.S. dollars, Serbian dinars, or with major credit cards or via the Pay.gov online renewal system.

You must schedule an appointment through our online scheduling system .

If you have an emergency need for passport services outside of these hours, please contact us to set up a special appointment. We cannot issue passports outside of working hours.

If your U.S. passport is lost or stolen, you should report the theft to local police and notify the Embassy.  If you have travel plans in the next 10 days, please call the Embassy at +381-11-706-4000 to make an appointment to apply for a new passport.  If you do not have immediate travel plans, please make an appointment online  to replace your passport.  Please bring a copy of the police report with you when you visit the Embassy, as well as the documents, forms, and fees listed below.

SECURITY INFORMATION

To ensure the safety and security of our customers and staff, the following points apply to anyone with a confirmed ACS appointment:

  • Arrive for your appointment 15 minutes early, to allow time for security screening.  If you arrive late, you will be asked to reschedule your appointment for another day.
  • Come fully prepared for your interview. Customers will not be allowed to fill out forms in our waiting room, as that would delay serving other customers.  Therefore, if you are not fully prepared you will be asked to reschedule your appointment for another day.
  • Plan to use public transportation or have someone drop you off, there is no parking for visitors at the Embassy.

REASONABLE ACCOMMODATION

If you need reasonable accommodation for your appointment, we encourage you to request your accommodation immediately once you schedule your appointment. We make every effort to provide accommodations to persons with disabilities and medical conditions. Reasonable accommodations vary, depending on the situation and the person’s needs.
Examples of accommodations include, but are not limited to:

    • If you require a private appointment due to a medical condition or disability, we may schedule an alternative time for you to come in for your interview.
    • If you or your child has special needs that requires a private appointment in a quiet space without distractions, we may schedule an alternative time for you or your family to come in for your interview.
    • If you are unable to speak, you may be allowed to respond to questions in an agreed-upon nonverbal manner such as using pen and paper.
    • If you are deaf or hard of hearing, you may bring a sign language interpreter to translate during the interview if needed.
    • If you have low vision, we may provide you with communications in large print.

If you are unable to provide fingerprints because of a medical condition, including birth defects, physical deformities, skin conditions, you may qualify for a fingerprint waiver for certain fingers.

  • Interview waivers are only granted in extreme situations, such as having a medical condition that requires flying in an air ambulance.
