Important Visa Information

Payment Methods & Details

All visa applicants, including children, are required to pay a non-refundable and non-transferable nonimmigrant visa (MRV) application fee. Please visit https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-rs/niv/information/fee for more information.

 

Nonimmigrant Visa Fee Payment Extension

The validity of nonimmigrant MRV payments has been extended until September 30, 2023. Visa fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. If you wish to apply for a visa at another Embassy or Consulate, you will be required to pay a new MRV fee and complete a new Form DS-160.

Location & Information

The embassy is located at Bulevar kneza Aleksandra Karađorđeviđa 92. Please use the entrance for consular services located on the boulevard side.

The Embassy building is approximately 6 kilometers (3.5 miles) away from the city center. Bus line 42 comes directly to the Embassy (Šolina stop), and many other buses stop within one kilometer. If you are arriving by car, please note there is no visitor parking at the Embassy, and street parking is limited.

Please check the date and time of your interview, arriving late may result in the cancellation of your appointment. On the day of your appointment, please plan to spend at least one hour at the Embassy.

 

Please note:

  • The scheduled time is not the time of your interview with the consular officer, but the time of the beginning of the procedure.  Be prepared to spend a few hours in the consular section.
  • If your application is approved, you will receive a paper that explains the notification and passport pick up procedure. Passports are available for pick up 2-3 business days after the interview at the selected DHL location. If someone else scheduled your interview, the DHL location will be known to that person. Please respect other visa applicants and consular officer time and direct all additional passport pick up questions to consbelgrade@state.gov or directly to the DHL courier service http://www.dhl.rs/sr/contact_center/contact_express.html

Security Information

All visitors must be screened prior to entering the U.S. Embassy, Belgrade and are subject to inspection via walk-through metal detector and/or a hand-held metal detector. All personal items will undergo full inspection by use of x-ray and other detection equipment. Any visitor who declines to be screened by U.S. Embassy security personnel will be prohibited from entering the Embassy grounds.

 

For safe and quick entrance to the Consular Section please follow these suggestions:

  • Come 15 minutes before your interview, no earlier!
  • Be aware that we cannot provide visitor parking. We suggest that you use alternative form of transportation whenever possible.
  • Follow all Embassy security instructions
  • Be prepared for security screening similar to an airport

 

Prohibited Items (Items Not to Bring to the Embassy)

The following items are prohibited inside the U.S. Embassy and should be left at home or in your vehicle:

  • Backpacks, bags, luggage, or large purses;
  • Food and beverages;
  • Fire-lighting equipment (e.g. matches, lighters);
  • Weapons of any kind, including pepper spray;
  • Knives and tools, including any sharp or bladed objects;
  • Any oils, aerosols or pump sprays, liquids, lotions and powders;
  • Electronic or recording equipment of any kind, including, but not limited to:
    • Cameras
    • Laptop computers
    • Mobile phones
    • MP3 or CD players
    • Pagers
    • Keyless remotes
    • E-readers such as iPads or Kindles
    • Thumb drives
  • Helmets of any type

This list is not all-inclusive.  The U.S. Embassy reserves the right to prohibit the entry of any items.

Permitted Items

  • Small bags to carry necessary documents
  • ID/Passport and relevant documents
  • Wallet/small purse
  • Newspaper/books in printed form only (e.g. no Kindles, iPads or other e-readers).
  • Writing materials
  • Car/ house keys

 

Consular Visitors

Only persons with an appointment for a consular service will be allowed entry.  Friends and relatives, except for those listed below, are not permitted to accompany applicants inside the embassy. The following persons may accompany an applicant for consular services:

  • Parent or guardian escorting a child under 18 years of age
  • Assistant of a person with a disability

Reasonable Accommodation

If you need reasonable accommodation for your appointment, we encourage you to request your accommodation immediately once you schedule your appointment. We make every effort to provide accommodations to persons with disabilities and medical conditions. Reasonable accommodations vary, depending on the situation and the person’s needs.
Examples of accommodations include, but are not limited to:

    • If you require a private appointment due to a medical condition or disability, we may schedule an alternative time for you to come in for your interview.
    • If you or your child has special needs that requires a private appointment in a quiet space without distractions, we may schedule an alternative time for you or your family to come in for your interview.
    • If you are unable to speak, you may be allowed to respond to questions in an agreed-upon nonverbal manner such as using pen and paper.
    • If you are deaf or hard of hearing, you may bring a sign language interpreter to translate during the interview if needed.
    • If you have low vision, we may provide you with communications in large print.

If you are unable to provide fingerprints because of a medical condition, including birth defects, physical deformities, skin conditions, you may qualify for a fingerprint waiver for certain fingers.

  • Interview waivers are only granted in extreme situations, such as having a medical condition that requires flying in an air ambulance.
